European Year of Volunteering 2011 Campaign in the Czech Republic

Dear colleagues,

You may have heard something about an international conference which we are preparing in the framework of the European Year of Volunteering 2011 Campaign in the Czech Republic – an idea we have promoted at different occasions  in the past weeks and months.  Finally, we are able to share with you the Invitation including the Preliminary program.
In view of the big a broad themes covered by the respective  European events  organized within the Year, we decided to focus and narrow down the topic of the Conference both thematically and geographically to keep it as concrete and down-to-earth as possible. Finally, we have named the event Voluntarily across the Border. Volunteering as a Tool for Connecting and Enriching Neighboring Border Communities in Central Europe.

The main aim of the Conference is to support the creation of new opportunities in the field of cross-border volunteering and can be seen in the context of the EU Recommendation on Mobility of Young Volunteers across Europe and similar political initiatives. You can find more information, including practicalities and a registration link in the attached Invitation. As experts in volunteering  and non-formal learning of (not only)  young people,  I would like to ask you for two favours:
1.       Since a conference can be only successful if it gathers the right people in  the right place at the right time (which we hope early summer Prague might be :-)), please spread the Invitation to relevant organizations, institutions and individuals in your respective area of actions.  We are looking for participants from voluntary NGOS, representatives of regional authorities and municipalities, institutions, agencies and businesses interested in promoting and supporting cross-border volunteering.
2.       In addition, it would be a great help for us if you could recommend to us organizers, administrators or donors of inspiring programmes/projects/initiatives in the field of community volunteering with a cross-border dimension. We intend to invite these people to present and discuss good practices at the conference (see the Preliminary program in the annex).
We are primarily focusing on the region of Central Europe, nevertheless we will be pleased to present and share examples of functional and successful projects from other parts of Europe and the world too.
Please let us know the names and contact persons of these projects by May 15, 2011 at the latest (email the contact to, so that we can get in touch with them in due time before the Conference.
Thank you very much in advance for your support!
Looking forward to hearing from you
On behalf of the team of organizers
